The X-wing starfighter first appeared in 1977's "Star Wars IV: A New Hope." It quickly became highly popular among fans and is now one of the most recognizable spacecraft of all time. The S-foils fold open in attack position, creating that iconic "X" shape. Designer Jerac improved this model with a more accurate design, a sturdier structure than before, and by avoiding overly rare parts.
I got my hands on the bricks for the UCS X-wing but didn’t want an overly large scale, so I built a minifig-scale X-wing based on Jerac’s design. Referring to movie stills, I changed the dark gray parts on the nose to light gray and followed a method from Instagram to get a UCS-style Luke Skywalker minifigure. 🤓
It has to be said—Jerac’s design is truly impressive. The cockpit uses printed tiles to replicate details from movie stills, the rear engines are detailed with skateboard and telescope pieces, and the bottom includes gears that allow the wings to open and close. It even has a landing gear!
